Reetta Hurske revealed her good deed which could have been

Urheilu asks Finland’s athletics stars at the World Championships what good deed they have done the last time. The question was answered, among other things, by fast swimmers Reetta Hurske and Lotta Harala, who will compete on Tuesday.

What was the last good deed you did?

Urheilu asks this question to every athlete of the Finnish athletics team at the World Championships in Budapest.

The question has been surprisingly difficult. Many athletes have had to state that they cannot answer.

Perhaps athletes have thought that a good deed should be something particularly big. Even a small good gesture can have big consequences.

It was revealed on Monday Reetta Hurskeen and Wilma Murron in interviews. The two live in Budapest as roommates.

– Just before I came to lunch, I told Wilma that she can take the two bananas from our room, sprinter Hurske said on Monday the day before the pole vault qualification.

Hurske hardly guessed how useful those bananas would be in the end.

Pole vault qualifying took a painfully long time, well over two hours. Murto, who made a clean series and thus rarely jumped, had to wait a lot in the terrible heat of Budapest.

– We spent quite a long evening there, even though it was only a qualifier. Quite a physical performance.

At this point, those bananas given by Hurskee entered the picture.

– You have to be patient not to use up too much energy. Now I had to eat another banana already. I’m happy with how I did. Especially in this weather, that’s not an easy task.

Bananas could be an invaluable help. Murto continued to perform at his own top level and exceeded the qualifying mark of 465. The Finnish medal favorite will be seen in the pole vault final on Wednesday.

Doing good is naturally reciprocal. Murto said a couple of days ago that he offered Hurskee morning coffee.

Finns can hope that Murto, known as a lover of high-quality coffee, will offer sumpits to Hurskee on Tuesday as well.

Hurske will start his WC career in the preliminaries of the quick fences.

– Yes, on Tuesday we have to advance from the first round. I bet that the level is much tougher now compared to before, Hurske stated.

On Tuesday, the track will also see the debutant of the value competition, when Lotta Harala gets to the first adult outdoor track World Championships of his career.

– It feels like there is an upswing, and of course that raises the mood. There is such a calmer feeling. Everything has been done to ensure that tomorrow there is a chance to succeed and that it would be enough until the semi-finals, Harala said.

The preliminaries of the women’s fast hurdles are scheduled at 19:40.
