Prior to his action star roles, Mark Wahlberg starred in smaller films in the ’90s that many of his fans may not be familiar with. One of them is the 1996 psychological thriller Fear, in which the actor plays a psychopathic stalker who seduces Reese Witherspoon as the main character.
In a recent interview, the actress recalled filming the film, where she filmed a special sex scene against her will. The moment then shaped Witherspoon’s entire way of working.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, the star recalled a particularly awkward scene from Fear. There is a sex scene between her 16-year-old character Nicole and Wahlberg’s David, which takes place during a roller coaster ride. The actress filmed the moment against her will, as she explains in the interview:
The script didn’t specifically state that this would happen. I think the director came up with that himself and then asked me on set if I would do it, and i said no It wasn’t a particularly great experience.Mark Wahlberg’s moment changed Reese Witherspoon’s lifeFear director James Foley allowed the intimate scene to be filmed anyway, although Witherspoon was visibly uncomfortable about it. The actress referred to the incident in an interview as formative for later working methods with her own production company Hello Sunshine: It made me realize where my place is in the filmmaking pecking order. I think it’s another one of those stories that made me want to be an agent for change and someone who might be able to have a better leadership position around Stories from a female perspective instead of telling from the male point of view.
