Like much else, the corona pandemic affected the search pressure for Swedish colleges and universities. In 2021, a record number of people applied, almost 420,000 people. This year, the corresponding figure is just over 375,000 people. The statistics from the University and College Council, UHR, mean a decrease of 10 percent compared to last year. Thus, there are fewer people today waiting to be notified whether they have been adopted or not, than in 2021.
– In part, we believe that it is due to easing of pandemic restrictions that have increased opportunities to work. On the one hand, many have started studying last year – and therefore are not looking for new educations, says Andreas Sandberg, unit manager at UHR.
Among people over the age of 25, the application pressure has decreased by 14 percent from 2021. In that age group, the proportion of applicants has decreased most sharply.
