The risk of a major war in the Middle East has decreased somewhat, at least in the short term. US Air Force Chief Charles Brown makes that assessment in an interview on the website of the Reuters news agency.

One reason is the extensive attacks that Israel and Hezbollah carried out against each other the other day. That has eased tensions somewhat, although Iran’s possible plans for an Israeli attack are worrying.

Brown heads the Joint chiefs of staff of the American defense branches.
