Three people are charged in Denmark on suspicion of having redeemed lottery tickets several times and earned the equivalent of around SEK 8.5 million.

According to the charges, the men – who are 27, 37 and 39 years old – redeemed winning lottery tickets from Danske Spil 1,697 times in various shops in Denmark. The money they received is said to have then been transferred to accounts in England, Belgium and Lithuania.

Two of the men are accused of going into an unmanned checkout terminal in a shopping center after closing time and entering winning codes over and over again. One of them is accused of having gone around to various shops and gas stations in Jutland.

Two of the men deny any wrongdoing. The third pleads guilty to fraud for a smaller amount. It is the opinion of the Danish prosecutor that the three men have collaborated in the fraud.

In addition to prison terms, the prosecutor is requesting that an unknown amount of money be confiscated from the defendants.
