Red warning in Kävlinge – Sven Olsson’s plot flooded

Plots in a row have been covered by water and SMHI has issued a red warning for high flows in Kävlingeån in Skåne.
One of those who worry is colony owner Sven Olsson.
– We don’t know where it ends, he says.

The plus degrees in the south have had major consequences. Snow melting and new rainfall have caused high flows in Kävlingeån in Scania.

SMHI has issued a red warning “for the time being”.

Several municipalities cooperate

Colony owner Sven Olsson has removed the carpets on the floor and has to wear rubber boots to get into the cabin. He estimates the amount of water covering the plot to be 30 centimeters deep.

– The cabin has managed so far. But the margin is small and they have promised more rain, so the concern is there, he says.

Several authorities held a collaboration meeting together with the municipalities concerned on Thursday afternoon. SMHI warns of “extremely high current speeds”, but the county administrative board in Skåne tells TT that there is currently no threat to socially important operations.

“Can’t do much”

But for Sven Olsson, the worries remain. He says that it has gone very quickly and he is afraid that the already high flows will become even higher.

– You can’t do much more than not having the carpets on the floor. I have lifted some things up so that the damage will be as little as possible if the water gets in.

What’s the worst that could happen?

– That the water rises another half a metre. That the cabins let go and start floating around the river, says Sven Olsson.
