The latest generation Red Magic phone was launched in China just before the end of 2022 and now the 8 series is ready for international use a few weeks later. The company has changed the branding a bit so that there is no Pro+ model, but a Void version instead.
Basis Red Magic 8 ProIt’s called “Matte” because of its textured, opaque back panel. This one is equipped with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage just like the Pro phone launched in China.
The other option is called “Void” and comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Pro + similar to . Void is not just a new name for Pro+, but there are some differences for the international version.
The biggest change is that both models have 6,000mAh batteries and both charge at 65W. The Pro+ in the Chinese market has a 5,000mAh battery with a faster 165W charge, but that’s not coming to the global market.

The 16 MP front camera is hidden under the screen (2nd generation UDC technology). In addition to the touchscreen, there are two touch-based peak triggers operating at a sampling rate of 520Hz.
The phone is of course paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powered by. The chipset is cooled by the ICE 11 system, which combines new materials for greater heat transfer and a redesigned, upgraded 20,000 RPM fan to increase airflow and reduce noise. Cube Performance Optimizer provides stable frame rates during gameplay and low power consumption when not in use.
The phone packs stereo speakers and dual X-axis linear motors and also has a 3.5mm headphone jack. The wireless system is Wi-Fi 7 (4×4 MIMO) ready and has 9 antennas for 5G connectivity. The main camera on the back has been upgraded with a 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor, alongside an 8MP ultra-wide camera.
Finally, we felt the need to explain how to distinguish the two models from each other – the Void has a transparent back like the Pro+. This look was inspired by the colors of galaxies in outer space, the colors will be rendered by the RGB illuminated active cooling fan. The Matte version also has RGB LEDs, but instead they are on a strip (because you can’t see the fan).
