Red Cross stores stop selling shein clothes

– We have authorities that warn that this contains such high levels of chemicals that it can be dangerous for both our volunteers who handle this, but not least for the customers, says the Red Cross Secretary General Ulrika Modéer to P4.

Shein’s goods contained chemicals

The call comes, among other things, after a report from Greenpeace in Germany, which has shown that 15 percent of surveyed Shein goods contained chemicals at such a high level that they are not legal in the EU.

The Swedish Chemicals Agency has approved certain Shein products without remark during inspections in 2023 and 2022, while other subjects have been found above permissible limits, including various phthalates but also traces of lead.
