Count Carl Piper has died aged 76, writes Ystads Allehanda.
Carl Piper was often called the “Red Count” since he proposed in the 1970s that the estate’s employees should be allowed to buy shares in the operating company and he himself joined Sövestad’s social democratic association. He also became known for his environmental commitment and opposition to mining in Österlen.
He died on Saturday evening after a period of Alzheimer’s disease, daughter Anna Piper confirms to the newspaper.
