RED by SFR responds to the new and attractive Pure Fiber offer from B&YOU with a promotion on its basic offer. A classic triple play formula at the same price, but with a much lower bandwidth…
Last week, Bouygues Telecom shook up the fixed Internet sector in France by launching Pure Fiber from B&YOU, a minimalist offer at an unbeatable price. For €23.99 per month without commitment, subscribers can benefit from an ultra-fast 8 Gbit/s fiber connection thanks to a Bbox Wi-Fi 6E, but without a TV or landline telephone (see our article). “Flow without the superfluous” ! Enough to appeal to a whole section of the population who have no use for these options! Obviously, such an upheaval called for a response from the competitors and, the least we can say is that we are more than disappointed!
Free was the first, by launching the Freebox Revolution Light Special Series, a classic triple play formula at a lower speed and at the same price… but only for the first year! In short, nothing to do with what Bouygues Telecom offers! There is reason to be disappointed coming from the alternative operator. However, SFR has managed to do much worse!
RED fiber by SFR: a “response” that is painful to see
To attract customers who would be likely to go to its competitor, RED by SFR, the low cost subsidiary of the operator, has decided to lower the price of its basic subscription, going from €24.99 to €23.99 per month. What a great lord! In addition, the activation fees, formerly €39, are now free. This will allow us to make big savings! Incidentally, SFR took the opportunity to discreetly eliminate the first two months of free subscription.
Otherwise, the subscription does not change from what RED by SFR initially offered. Thus, the offer still provides access to 500 Mb/s for downloading and 500 Mb/s for sending with dual-band Wi-Fi 5. This is much less than what Bouygues and Free offer! To go to 2 Gb/s for downloading and 700 Mb/s for sending with Wi-Fi 6, you have to add €7 per month… In short, we are a long way from the impressive speeds of up to 8 Gb/s. s download and 1 Gb/s upload with Wi-Fi 6E from the B&YOU subscription, with an optional repeater!
Unlike the Pure Fiber offer, the RED by SFR subscription remains a triple play offer, combining Internet telephony and television. It therefore comes with a landline and access to the RED TV application and 35 channels. Yes, to have a decoder, you will have to add an extra charge! At least Free offered better speed and a decoder with 230 channels included – but the offer increases to €29.99 per month after the first year.
In the end, SFR’s offer remains the cheapest triple play offer on the market, but it is also the poorest with Sosh’s offer. This is not really a response to B&YOU Pure Fiber, but rather a promotion – the site banner makes it clear “Right now”. It therefore has nothing to do with the new Bouygues Telecom formula which responds well to changes in society, and is much less advantageous than what Free offers. In short, just an opportunistic announcement that has nothing “crazy”…
