RED by SFR is reviewing its telephone plans with barely believable offers, such as a 2 euro plan with unlimited calls and SMS and 2 GB of data. The price war is relaunched, and the competition is not going to like it!
SFR is going through a delicate period. While its parent company is entangled in Portugal in a corruption scandal which is shaking the very foundations of the group, the operator continues to see its customer base and its financial indicators erode in a worrying manner. Almost 500,000 subscribers from its mobile segment slammed the door during the first quarter, which is almost as many as for the whole of 2023 (see our article)! Also, to redress the situation, SFR is in the middle of a seduction operation.
After having given a nice gift to its subscribers, new and old, by integrating 5G into all its mobile plans at no extra cost, and this, in a lasting manner, SFR has revised its catalog of RED packages – its low cost subsidiary – with offers very competitive! An astonishing decision, especially since we thought that the operator had decided to stop the price war and the race for subscribers to adopt a more risky strategy, which consists of increasing prices while retaining subscribers who bring him the most. However, he does not hesitate to see the big picture and attacks Free, which was the best recruiter in the first quarter of 2024, and in particular its famous €2 package!
RED by SFR: mini offers that compete with Free
RED by SFR offers a €1.99 package which comes on the heels of Free’s historic €2 package. Red by SFR offers 2 GB in 4G – also usable in the EU and the French Overseas Territories – compared to 50 MB at Free. In addition, while Xavier Niel’s offer only offers 2 hours of calls, that of SFR gives access to unlimited calls, SMS and MMS. This should make the alternative operator react!
For a little more data, users will be able to be tempted by the package at €5.99 per month for 30 GB – including 12 GB in the EU and the French Overseas Territories –, still in 4G, again with calls, Unlimited SMS and MMS. Note that it is possible to subscribe to a 5G option for an additional €3 per month and to an option adding 35 GB of data in the EU and DOM for €5 per month, including 20 GB usable from Switzerland, Andorra, the USA and Canada. For this same price range, Free offers its Booster option to add to the basic €2 package, to add 20 GB. In short, this does not compete with the new RED by SFR package!
RED by SFR: generous data offers that are very attractive
If we move up a little in terms of data, the offer at €8.99 per month turns out to be quite attractive. For this price, the customer has access to 120 GB of data – including 27 GB in the EU and DOM – in 5G. The price is simply unbeatable. At this price, it is positioned opposite the B&You package from Bouygues, which only offers 80 GB of data in 5G for the same price. To benefit from 130 GB, you have to pay €11.99 per month.
Finally, the latest package offered by RED by SFR includes 300 GB – still in 5G and with 27 GB in EU/DOM –
for €19.99 per month. Enough to satisfy those who have big needs! Note that Free offers exactly the same package, but with 35 GB in 4G in more than a hundred destinations. All these offers are without obligation.

With this new catalog, SFR is relaunching the price war, which is excellent news for consumers! There is a good chance that the competition will react to this attack and align with these new prices. In short, you will have to monitor this very closely and, why not, force your operator’s hand a little to obtain a commercial gesture from them, otherwise you will have to look elsewhere.
