He has been chased by several SHL clubs.
But now Jonathan Dahlén is close to signing a contract for the coming season.
Jonathan Dahlén is strongly associated with Timrå IK and it is not surprising that despite his young age he has already reached legendary status at the club. In the last two seasons that he has played in the club, both in the Hockeyallsvenskan, Dahlén has accounted for matchless 71 and 77 points.
Chased by SHL teams
The success led to a move to North America, where, however, Dahlén did not quite get it right in the San Jose Sharks. He was released by the team after the just ended season, and is still without a club. But there has certainly not been a lack of interest at home in Sweden.
In the past, he has been linked with above all Timrå, but Luleå and Skellefteå are also said to have offered lucrative contracts. But now Dahlén seems to be approaching a contract papacy, and it is not just any contract that is involved.
Agree on monster contract
According to Aftonbladet, Dahlén has now verbally agreed with Timrå on a contract, for a full five (!) years. According to the newspaper, the contract will be the club’s biggest ever, and the only thing that will prevent Dahlén from signing will be if a good offer in the NHL appears.
However, Dahlén says to Expressen that the information is not correct – that is, that he does not verbally agree with Timrå – but that he and the club “know where they stand”. Timrå has a strong team on paper for the coming season, and with Dahlén in the team, one would climb considerably in the advance tips of many experts.
