Recovery of Eemil Hallikainen who was seriously injured in pole

After a couple of weeks of intensive care, Hallikainen has been admitted to the neurology department.

Three weeks ago in a pole vault exercise, a seriously injured scraper Eemil Hallikainen recovery is well under way. The Hallikainen club Kaavin Kaiku tells about it on its website.

Hallikainen seriously injured his head during the pole vault exercise. He fell past the mattress to the ground and was hit hard in the head. In medical examinations, Eemil found a fracture of the skull and signs of damage to the surface layers of the brain.

After more than a week of anesthesia and a couple of weeks of intensive care, Hallikainen has been able to move to the neurology department. Due to injuries sustained in the accident, he has undergone two surgeries that have gone well. Eemil has discussed the accident with her family members and coach.

Basic functions such as meals and toilet visits have begun to run independently. There are still demanding treatment measures ahead and recovery is expected to take several months.

Kaavin Kaiku conveys the thanks of Eemil’s parents for the support the family has received from all over Finland and around the world.

Last summer, Hallikainen won the Finnish championship in the P17 series in pole vaulting.
