What makes the enormous number of bookings even more striking is that they were anything but expected at the ANVR. “We held our breath, because would the high inflation of the past year mean for travelers?”, says Van der Meer. Not so much, it turns out. “It is striking how much people still spend on travel. For us, this indicates that people find travel very important, are happy to put money aside for it and therefore probably leave other things for it.”
