Record year again – 1,850 Chalmerists build the cortègen in Gothenburg

Valborgsmässoafton in Gothenburg has for over 110 years been marked by the Chalmersled folk festival, which is fronted by cortège wagons in all its colors and shapes.

As tradition follows, the messages on the carts are nods to events that occurred during the year. Escaped animals from zoos and inflation are some of the themes seen on the 49 cortège wagons being built this year.

Where can you see the cortège?

The cortège leaves at 18.15 on the eve of Valborg Fair. The carriages will depart from Gibraltargatan at the Chalmers campus, and are expected to reach Götaplatsen around 18:45.

The folk festival will, among other things, be seen along Läraregatan, Viktor Rydbergsgatan, Kungsportsavenyn Vasagatan and Aschebergsgatan.
