Customs in the Netherlands Rotterdam have seized eight tons of cocaine, which was hidden in banana boxes from Ecuador. This is announced by the public prosecutor’s office in the country.

“A total of 8 64 one-kilo packages of cocaine were picked up from twelve pallets of banana boxes,” the authority writes in a statement.

The find, the largest to date in the Netherlands, was made in mid-July and all the drugs have been destroyed. No one has been arrested in connection with the seizure, which is estimated to have a street value of over seven billion kroner.

Last year, a total of 303 tons of cocaine were seized in the EU, of which almost 70 tons were found in Rotterdam, Europe’s busiest port.
