“A total of 8,64 one-kilo packages of cocaine were picked up from twelve pallets of banana boxes,” the authority writes in a statement.
The find, the largest to date in the Netherlands, was made in mid-July and all the drugs have been destroyed. No one has been arrested in connection with the seizure, which is estimated to have a street value of over seven billion kroner.
Last year, a total of 303 tons of cocaine were seized in the EU, of which almost 70 tons were found in Rotterdam, Europe’s busiest port.
