This year, more rain and snow has fallen over Denmark than has been measured in any previous year.
At eight o’clock on Wednesday morning, a total of 907 millimeters of precipitation had fallen during the year, which meant that previous record year records were passed.
“When we look at the data, we can see that it has rained a lot and it is raining more and more. The previous record is from 2019 and it will be beaten after such a short time,” writes Mikael Scharling at Denmark’s Meteorological Institute (DMI) in an email to Ritzau.
Another twelve days must be counted before the year is summed up, and the forecasts indicate that the new record will be set by a margin.
All the rainfall has caused flooding. Århus in Jutland was hit hard in October and in November it was worst in Zealand.
