Sweden is to send military equipment and other support to Ukraine for the equivalent of SEK 7.1 billion, the largest military support package to date, Dagens Nyheter learns.
The 15th package will be presented on Tuesday by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) and Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M). The package includes additional material from the Armed Forces’ storage.
In addition, money is added to buy new defense equipment from industry to be sent to Ukraine. Furthermore, money is allocated to funds in order to be able to obtain support more quickly when the need arises.
Since the Russian invasion began in February 2022, Sweden has contributed weapons and equipment to Ukraine’s defense to a total value of SEK 22.2 billion.
The support has been distributed in 14 different support packages. The largest package to date had a value of 6.3 billion and included Leopard tanks and Archer type artillery pieces.
