In the Nils Holgersson group’s report for 2022, facts are presented about price levels and price differences that exist between different municipalities for waste collection, VA, electricity and district heating.
When it comes to the electricity grid fees, which the various energy companies charge, there are big differences between the municipalities. Eon, with its Swedish headquarters in Malmö, has raised its fees the most.
– We have had large costs for our network losses and we have historically high investments and are increasing them even more to meet the energy transition that is taking place, says Gustav Wengen, who is head of department at Eon.
“Doesn’t feel right”
On average, electricity network prices have increased by 9.5%. Eon has raised by an average of 20.3 percent.
– It does not feel right that there should be a difference between the municipalities. You can’t influence this fee, says Malin Kadrolli, who is an Eon customer, mother of small children and lives in an apartment in Malmö.
Her friend agrees.
– I think Eon should consider that there are many who are having a tough time now. Those on parental leave, pensioners and those with poor finances, says Emilie Olofsson, also a customer of Eon.
Bodil and Tommy Jönsson also live in an apartment in the Limhamn district in Malmö.
– They make good money from this, so I think it’s pure hell, says Tommy Jönsson.
Strong increases
Over time, electricity grid prices have risen sharply. Over the past ten years, the electricity grid price has increased by an average of just over 41 percent, notes the Nils Holgersson group.
The three big companies Vattenfall, Ellevio and Eon have a monopoly on the electricity networks in 141 out of 290 municipalities. Eon is the biggest.
Vattenfall’s electricity network charges have fallen by an average of 2.1 percent. Eon has increased by an average of 20.3 and Ellevio by 8.6 percent compared to the previous year.
