Record Expectations for Deadpool and Wolverine

Deadpool 3 Will Save the MCU

Deadpool and Wolverine movie is targeting a record opening weekend gross of $160-165 million.

With Marvel Studios’ Deadpool and Wolverine movie set to hit theaters three weeks away, the film looks set to have a big opening weekend at the domestic box office. It points to a potentially record-breaking opening weekend for Marvel Studios/Disney’s first R-rated movie.

Deadpool and Wolverine Set to Break Box Office Records

The Merc With a Mouth’s MCU debut is expected to gross at least $160 million to $165 million domestically over the July 26-28 weekend. Not only would that give the film its best opening of 2024 so far, it would also be the biggest opening ever for an R-rated film, tying the record held by the first Deadpool film, which grossed $133.7 million when it opened in 2016.

The prospect of seeing Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson join forces with Hugh Jackman’s Logan is a big draw, as ticket sales show. Marvel will be hoping that these predictions come true, as the studio needs a box office hit after disappointing films like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, which became the lowest-grossing film in MCU history.

The film will open in theaters on July 26 and will be available everywhere on IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, Cinemark XD and premium screens. These expanded release options will play a key role in furthering the film’s box office success.
