Eric Zemmour’s party is playing big in these European elections: led by Marion Maréchal, the Reconquête list hopes to bring its first elected officials into the European Parliament.
Will the Reconquest party obtain its first elected representatives in these European elections? The political party, founded by Eric Zemmour in 2022, chose Marion Maréchal to lead its list in these elections. Reconquest hopes to enter the European Parliament to represent a conservative and anti-migrant voice distinct from that of the National Rally: while Jordan Bardella’s party sits there in the Identity and Democracy group, that of Eric Zemmour plans to join the benches of the European Conservatives and Reformists.
But we still have to win seats, an operation which is not a foregone conclusion for Marion Maréchal’s list. The latest polls on the results of the European elections, published before Friday evening and the end of the official campaign, credited Eric Zemmour’s party with 5 to 7% voting intentions, but sometimes expressed doubts about the party’s capacity to get seats. Remember that polls are only a snapshot of the state of opinion of a group of voters at a given time and that they are in no way a guarantee of the final result. Reconquest will therefore be set for Sunday evening from 8 p.m.
Why is Marion Maréchal Le Pen at the top of the list?
The choice of Marion Maréchal Le Pen to be the head of the list of the Reconquest party in the European elections is not a surprise. The niece of Marine Le Pen and former FN deputy has shown her support for Eric Zemmour’s party since its creation. She had already been a candidate for the legislative elections in 2022 on behalf of the polemicist and had thus marked her return to politics. The one who has already sat in the French Parliament, is this time trying to enter the European Parliament to make her still conservative ideas heard. She is also campaigning on the favorite themes of the far right such as the fight against immigration and Islamism, not without evoking the Zemmourist theory of the “great replacement”.
What is the list of Reconquest candidates for the European elections?
The full list of candidates for the Reconquest party was only revealed a few days before the formalization of the latter by the Ministry of the Interior. Like all the others, the list includes 81 names, but only one former MEP is present. This is Nicolas Bay, initially elected with the National Rally in 2019 before he changed sides during the last presidential campaign. Of these 81 names, only a handful can hope to be elected if Marion Maréchal obtains more than 5% of the votes. Otherwise, none will enter the European Parliament.

How many candidates are eligible according to the poll results?
A list must obtain at least 5% of the votes in the European elections to see some of its candidates elected. The number of people elected out of the 81 candidates present on the lists of each party is proportional to the result obtained on election day. A minimum of 5% gets 4 seats, 10% gets 8 seats, etc.
Thus according to the results of the polls, revealed before Friday evening and the end of the official campaign, Marion Maréchal Le Pen seemed able to win between 5 and 7 seats in the European Parliament, compared to just one today after the defector of a MEP RN at Reconqueste. It is worth remembering that poll results and projections are only predictions representing voting trends at a given time and cannot be understood as reliable predictions.
