Corporate name is exploited by fraudsters

Recently, a bunch of company and authorities have come out with warnings to the public as another wave of fraud and attempts to deceive private individuals money has increased.

To try to win the confidence of their victims, the scams often use a well-known brand, or government name to increase their chances of gaining confidence.

Recently, Swedes received text messages from the bank “Santander”, but which actually came from fraudsters.

Received message from Booking.com? Then it’s bluff

Now another well -known brand has been exploited by the scammers in attempts to deceive unsuspecting Swedes money.

Råd & Rön reports that fraudsters are currently using the hotel booking site Booking.com’s app and name to send out fraud messages to recipients. In them, they are encouraged to verify their debit card so as not to lose a hotel room booking, writes Råd & Rön.

Booking’s customers have previously suffered similar methods since 2023 without any successful solution to the problem, which is considered difficult to detect. This is because the messages are sent via the company’s own application and thus the fraudster has information and information about both the customer and the booking.

“Web fishing attacks pose a significant risk for all companies in the e-commerce industry, and we are constantly making large investments to limit the impact of these changing online fishing tactics as efficiently as possible,” Booking.com writes in a written comment to Advice & Rön.
