Several alerts about fraud attempts
Even in 2024, fraud through social manipulation – where the fraudster misleads and creates trust in the victim and thereby succeeds in tricking money or sensitive information – seems to be widespread.
In recent months, countless authorities and companies have sounded the alarm that their brands are being used by fraudsters, who in text messages, emails and calls pretend to represent them. This is to be able to get unsuspecting victims to share, for example, bank details or to identify themselves with BankID.

Among the authorities and companies that have sent out warnings lately are, for example, the Swedish Tax Agency, DB Schenker and Ellevio.

Länsförsäkringar warns of scam text messages
Several banks have also flagged that their names are being used by fraudsters, including Folksam and Ica-Banken, and now Länsförsäkringar is also warning about a sending of hoax text messages that appear to come from them.
“Important message! Warning for scam SMS! Do not call unknown phone numbers at someone’s request and do not click on links in SMS”, can be read in a warning box on lansforsakringar.se.

More specifically, fraudsters will, in the fake text message, prompt the recipient to call a phone number because a purported payment has not gone through. But the whole thing is therefore an attempted fraud.
According to Säkerhetskollen, Länsförsäkringar urges victims to forward the SMS to 7726, which is used to report scam messages. The message should then be deleted.
