A prosecutor in Congo-Kinshasa is seeking the death penalty for 25 people accused of belonging to the M23 rebel group. Another person risks 20 years in prison if the judges follow the prosecutor’s line.
The trial is attracting a lot of attention in the war-torn country.
The Tutsi-led M23, with support from neighboring Rwanda, has placed large areas under its control in the eastern part of Congo-Kinshasa.
M23 is one of many armed groups operating in the area. Among the factors driving the violence is the pursuit of control over mines with valuable minerals that are used, among other things, in the production of smartphones and laptops.

A five-year-old girl was reported missing in Bergsjön in Gothenburg during the afternoon.
A large search effort is underway in the area.
The girl disappeared around 4pm on Monday and was with several other children. When her relatives came out, the girl was no longer there.
The alarm about the missing girl also went out to public transport.
At 7 p.m., the police announced that the girl had been found.

The Ukrainian intelligence service has carried out a hacker attack against the Russian central bank, Kyiv Independent reports.

The hunt for the perpetrator is ongoing after the murder in Gävle on Sunday.

A man in his 40s had to be taken to hospital.
During Monday, the police announced that he died as a result of his injuries.

On Monday afternoon, the emergency services were called to a building just north of Ängelholm.
– It’s a heavy fire in some kind of machine hall or barn area, says Erik Nilsson, officer on duty at the rescue service.
There are no reports that any person or animals were injured.
It is still unclear how the fire started.
– We are now working to limit the spread to nearby buildings, says Erik Nilsson.
A passenger train has derailed near the big city of Volgograd in Russia.
“Eight wagons derailed in the Volgograd region,” a source told the regime-loyal Interfax news agency.
According to preliminary information, the train driver applied emergency brakes because a truck ran onto the rails at a crossing. Around 1,000 passengers will be on the train. Emergency services are at the scene, writes Interfax.
Air France-KLM is stopping all flights on Monday and Tuesday “due to the security situation”, according to the company’s spokesperson.

Two people were found dead in a car fire in Malmö on July 14.
According to prosecutor Magnus Pettersson, these are two British citizens, TT reports.
– The car that was found burning in Malmö was rented in Denmark by a person who is a resident of Great Britain together with another person from Great Britain, says Magnus Pettersson to TT.
The British nationals have not yet been identified.
The national bomb shelter is in place at a recycling center in Karlshamn.
– We received a call from staff at the recycling center yesterday. Someone had previously called them and said that there might be a dangerous object in a container, says police spokesperson Kataina Rusin.
After the police carried out an initial check on Sunday, they concluded that the bomb disposal unit needed to investigate the matter more closely.
The site was cordoned off and the container was moved so that it was more secluded.
Later, the police established that the container did not contain any dangerous objects, but only rubbish.
