Reasons behind Henry Cavills exit are a bunch of lies

All hell has broken loose behind the scenes of the Netflix series The Witcher since Henry Cavill’s departure. According to an ex-employee, the authors made fun of Andrzej Sapkowski’s book. Fans saw this as the reason for the star’s exit and attacked the series makers until one of them burst his collar. He wants the “heap [an] Lie” to correct.

The Witcher writer on Netflix series rumors: Employee brazenly lied

Matthew D’Ambrosio works as a script coordinator on the Netflix series. Confronted with wild fan insults, finally broke his patience. He posted an answer on social media that can now only be found as a deleted message on Reddit:

Matt D’Ambrosio’s statement

It’s cool and funny to talk about a job you love and then get reactions like this because an asshole you used to work with telling your fans a bunch of lies. [Und das nur,] because he acted like an asshole and got fired for it. [Und] now [sind seine Behauptungen] the history[, die jeder glaubt].

He also denies the allegation that he hated the template or actively mocked it:

I played the games before I read the books and then get the unique opportunity to [der Netflix-Serie] to work. […] It’s still a dream job!

Did Henry Cavill really have a falling out with the creators of The Witcher?

In which “asshole“, which he does not mention by name here, is probably Beau DeMayo. In an Instagram discussion, the former The Witcher author attested to his ex-colleagues’ arrogance in dealing with the template (quoted here by The Direct):

I’ve worked on shows like The Witcher, where the writers deliberately didn’t like the books and games. And even actively about [die Vorlagen] made fun of. A catastrophe is inevitable. Why did Henry Cavill really leave The Witcher?

Whether there was a behind-the-scenes dispute between Cavill, the writers, or showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich remains to be seen. The actor has still not commented on the reasons for his departure. So far, DeMayo and D’Ambrosio’s statements are nothing more than unconfirmed opinions.

Mind you, D’Ambrosio doesn’t deny that Cavill may have left the series out of frustration. Perhaps faithfulness to the template just didn’t go far enough for him. But that doesn’t prove that the authors really hate the games or the books.
