Death Wish with Bruce Willis from 2018 is one Eli Roth reissue of the highly controversial 1974 classic, which we called A Man Sees Red. In it, Charles Bronson played the vigilante avenging angel who willingly allows himself to be attacked on the streets of New York in order to kill the perpetrators.
The original was in Germany on the index until 2018. So exactly until the year the remake was released in cinemas. A Man Sees Red has now been released uncut for ages 16 and up, Death Wish is from 18. And rightly so: there are some really violent scenes and the vigilante theme remains, of course, just as questionable as it was in the 1970s.
