Really good zombie movie based on true history

The Walking Dead has been one of the dominant series of the past decade and was instrumental in Boom in new zombie adventures responsible. In the meantime, however, the franchise seems to have run out of steam: numerous spin-offs are trying to continue the story by hook or by crook.

Bonello has little interest in mouldering bodies shuffling around. His attention is on the Roots of the zombie film and how he can connect these with the fears and longings of young people. The result is a quiet foray into a familiar genre that suddenly doesn’t seem so familiar anymore.

Particularly exciting: Bonello combines the action, which is set in the present, with a look into the past. In 1962, Zombi Child explores the real-life case of a man turned into a zombie during a voodoo ritual: Clairvius Narcisse (Mackenson Bijou) turned into one deathlike trance shifted.
