Long before the Marvel Cinematic Universe changed the cinematic landscape forever, animation studio Pixar brought one with 2004’s The Incredibles extremely entertaining Superhero movie on the big screen. We had to wait forever for the return of the Incredibles with their bright red costumes.

Only 14 years after the theatrical release of The Incredibles, the five-strong superhero family reported back in the cinema. The Incredibles 2 became one of the biggest hits in 2018. It is all the more amazing that the sequel in pop culture memory hardly left a lasting impression.

    Given the number of superhero films that have hit theaters in recent years, it’s not surprising that some of the titles fallen into oblivion. But that after only five years hardly anyone is talking about The Incredibles 2 – that was definitely not foreseeable at the time when it was released in cinemas.

    The film was well received by critics and audiences. It is based on a popular brand and could over $1.2 billion at the box office, making it the fourth highest-grossing film of 2018. Compared to the other superhero movies of the year, The Incredibles 2 rarely makes the rounds.

    Both the MCU entries Avengers 3: Infinity War and Black Panther and the DC high-flyer Aquaman continue to figure prominently in contemporary pop culture. Venom and Spider-Man: A New Universe each have one own Marvel Universe started at Sony. And then there’s Deadpool 2.

    So that The Incredibles 2 does not fall completely into oblivion, we would like to recommend the film for today’s TV broadcast to you. Pixar maestro Brad Bird (Ratatouille) and his creative team have one funny and clever sequel created, which bows to the greats of its genre and at the same time has its own identity.
