There is one in the south of Spain wide swamp landscape. And that’s exactly where it drifts into A serial killer in the 1980s his mischief. Teenage girls are his victims and the bodies found are brutally beaten. The police officers Juan (Raúl Arévalo) and Pedro (Javier Gutiérrez) are supposed to stop the perpetrator. But their different characters and views put obstacles in the way of their investigation. The two men have to overcome these frictions before they can track down the murderer.

La isla mínima – murder land
Long before its TV broadcast, La isla mínima – Murderland won countless awards with its True Detective vibes and look into human abysses, including six trophies from the renowned Spanish film award Goya. The film was only released in cinemas in Germany in 2016, two years after its Spanish release.
Under the title Free country Christian Alvart re-released the serial killer crime thriller in this country in 2020, moving the action from the end of the Spanish Franco dictatorship to East Germany, shortly after German reunification. The remake can currently be seen free of charge in the ZDF media library.
