Twitch streamer Papaplatte took part in 7 vs. Wild and was criticized by some viewers there for his language. That is bad “Denglish” gibberish. The 26-year-old is insightful, but he doesn’t really succeed in practicing the new language hygiene.
What is Papaplatte criticized for?
Critics of Papaplatte, like Scurrows, also call the streamer the “German xQc” – but the Canadian speaks a bit worse:
“He really pissed me off with his language.”
This was the post that criticized him: In the reddit for 7 vs. Wild there was a post “Back to the native language.” The user said: At the beginning of the season of 7 vs. Wild he couldn’t hear Papaplatte at all. There was too much “Bro – Real Talk – No Joke”.
The user writes: That really pissed him off.
The longer the season went on, the better it got until he was able to listen to him carefully later. Then, without any English sprinkles, Papaplatte even seemed serious and sensible.
But now that he’s back home and reacting to content on Twitch, it’s back to “English gibberish at its finest.”
“Realtalk” – “Now be honest”
“No Joke” – “I’m serious”
“You know” – “Do you know”
“Bro” – general purpose word, can mean anything imaginable depending on the emphasis
This is how Papaplatte reacts to the criticism: The 26-year-old is surprisingly insightful. When he’s on the stream, he doesn’t even notice it. But when he listens to recordings himself, it’s often too much for him. He just wants to tone it down a bit. Often this is simply unnecessary.
But the video itself makes it clear how difficult it will be for him to pay attention to his language:
“I’m also trying to slow it down a bit. It bothers me a little sometimes too.”
He just watches English creators, you know. Sometimes it’s really unnecessary to use so many English things, you know.
Papaplatte also responded confidently to another user’s criticism that he made fun of colleagues too often and apologized to Rumathra: “Oh yeah, man. Real talk, Wieland, I’m sorry.”
There’s still a long way to go for him, no joke.
