Real Madrid won their 36th Spanish championship title thanks to their clear success against Cadiz (3-0) and the stunning victory of Girona against FC Barcelona (4-2), during the 34th day of La Liga this Saturday May 4. Four days before the end of the championship, the Madrid club is 13 points ahead of Girona, its new runner-up, with only 12 points remaining to collect and therefore mathematically becomes champion. This new coronation further strengthens the record of Real Madrid, the team which has won the Spanish football championship the most times, far ahead of the 27 titles of its great rival Barcelona. This is also the third title won by the Madrilenians in the last five seasons.
