Real easily advance – beat Liverpool

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Fact: They are playing the Champions League quarter-finals

Real Madrid, Napoli, Manchester City, Inter, AC Milan, Chelsea, Benfica and Bayern Munich.

Quarter-final draw on Friday at 12 noon. It is a free draw, which means that everyone can meet everyone.

Coach Jürgen Klopp stated at the press conference before the match that the chance was there – but that it was minimal.

Liverpool lost the first meeting 2–5 at Anfield. They needed to score at least three goals at the Santiago Bernabéu.

There were zero goals.

— I had hoped for a different match, but Real were too good tonight. They controlled the game and had the better chances. If you want a miracle, you have to be better than we were today, says Klopp in Viaplay’s broadcast.

“Maybe Meet”

He was asked if Real are favorites to win the entire tournament.

— Of course, they have the experience. I think whoever is going to win the Champions League has to beat Madrid, but also Manchester City. So it remains to be seen how the draw will be. They might already meet in the next round.

Real Madrid started the second leg clearly better. In the opening 25 minutes, the home team had three great chances – but Alisson Becker was responsible for fine saves.

Liverpool, who don’t quite know where they are this season, got their game in order after that and created a couple of chances, but Belgian goalkeeper star Thibaut Courtois, who faces Sweden in the European Championship qualifiers in just over ten days, stood in the way.

Benzema goalscorer

In the second half, the tempo dropped – and for Real Madrid it was a transport stretch to the quarter-finals. With just over a quarter of an hour left, the score was broken when Karim Benzema rolled in 1-0 from close range.

In the evening’s second round of 16, the one between Napoli and Eintracht Frankfurt at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, it was a clear home victory. The match, which was prompted by some disturbances between German supporters and Italian police, was already decided in the first half.

Stekhete attacking star Victor Osimhen scored twice in a match that ended 3–0. Napoli is ahead with a total of 5-0 and now gets to play in the quarter-finals for the first time in the club’s history.
