23:08 – The summary
Another crazy evening at the Bernabeu, a most memorable scenario for Ancelotti’s Real who continues to dazzle us. Real made Real but in even greater proportions and we say this evening that Kylian Mbappé was finally able to experience European emotions full of magic and filled with hopes of the final coronation. He could thank his friend Vinicius who offered a score worthy of a Ballon d’Or to almost single-handedly overthrow the Borussia Dortmund (5-2) after a first act totally in favor of the Germans.
Apart from a double opportunity in the 36th minute with strikes from Rodrygo and Bellingham on the uprights, Real offered nothing to their audience in the first act against a much more daring, organized and efficient Borussia in front of goal. The defending champion was punished with two goals in the space of four minutes through Malen (30th) and Gittens (34th). Real were underwater at the break, and no one could cry foul.
But the show, the demonstration and the magical work were planned for the second act. We do not yet know what springs Ancelotti used to wake up his troops at the break, but his team was completely transformed upon returning from the locker room. A shower of chances fell on poor Kobel’s goals with no less than five Madrid goals including three for Vinicius alone (62nd, 86th, 93rd). As the Ballon d’Or ceremony approaches, the Brazilian may have proven to the world that he may be the best player in the world. His last two goals, he owes them alone, with breakthroughs, dribbles and strikes which made the opposing defenders look like juniors. It’s a magnificent show offered to the audience at Casa Blanca who went through all the emotions this evening. Mbappé for his part did not score but had the merit of sounding the revolt by offering the decisive pass for Rudiger on the first goal (60th). The third goal was scored by Lucas Vazquez, promoted to captain after the departure of Modric (83rd), who should often have the opportunity to shine this season in the absence of Carvajal.
Certainly, Ancelotti has still not been reassured on the defensive level, but the individual qualities of his elements, the talent of some, the arrogance and the revolt of others, should allow his team to reverse a lot of difficult situations. This is what makes the mark of the greats and Vinicius is the perfect example this evening.
