Eyebrows around the world have been raised after Vladimir Putin’s daughter Maria Vorontsova’s words about the country’s view of people in a unique interview where she claims that Russia is a country where people are at the center.
– We are to a greater extent a human-centred society. Nothing has a higher value than human life for us, says Maria Vorontsova according to Kyiv Post.
It was the non-profit organization Medtech.Mocsow that held the rare interview with the president’s 38-year-old daughter. For 42 minutes, Maria Vorontsova was not asked any questions about her father or the war.
The words of Putin’s daughter upset
Reactions have come as many do not share her view – as her father has sent hundreds of thousands of men into battle in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“These are shocking statements considering the crimes and the number of victims in the Ukrainian war. According to estimates, more than half a million people on both sides have died or been injured,” writes the television channel NTV
International media reported on the interview on Sunday. German Der Spiegel believes that Maria Vorontsova’s interview is bizarre and claims that the interview “raised astonishment”.
The Kyiv Post underlines in its article that Russia has so far lost around 370,000 soldiers, according to official figures from the Ukrainian government.
