President Tatar reminded that there was military activity in Southern Cyprus following the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and that soldiers from the German special forces units came to the areas under the control of the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus, and that not only Germany but also the soldiers of other countries entered Cyprus without the permission and approval of Turkey and the TRNC. He noted that they could not be deployed.
Making a statement to the AA correspondent, Tatar pointed out the Zurich and London guarantee agreements and said that they closely follow the military mobility in the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus and that the TRNC is in consultation with the Republic of Turkey on all these issues.
Underlining that Turkey must be informed about every military development in Cyprus in general, Tatar said, “It is against international agreements for foreign military forces to come to the island without our permission and approval from Turkey, which is the guarantor of the Republic of Cyprus. This is against Germany or another country.” “It doesn’t matter. The guarantors of Cyprus are Turkey, England and Greece. This should be taken into consideration.” he said.
BRITISH MUST BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THE BASES
Tatar pointed out that the British military bases in Cyprus are on the island within the framework of the agreements and said, “The British should be careful when using the bases. While these bases are used for the national interests of the UK, they should be in a way that will not harm the Turks and Greeks in Cyprus. ” made his assessment. (AA)
