Alan Ritchson is currently thrilling as a giant ex-mercenary in Amazon’s Reacher series. But the muscleman’s career almost turned out completely differently. As he revealed now, he was then in the shortlist for the Thor role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, his vain nature during the casting process cost him the superhero job.
Reacher star Alan Ritchson thought acting wasn’t necessary for Marvel role
In an interview with Men’s Health, the actor spoke about how he didn’t take the Marvel role audition seriously at the time:
I thought: ‘They’ll give me the role if I look like the guy; Nobody is really interested in acting.’It wasn’t quite that easy after all and so Ritchson’s team at Marvel Studios got the feedback that the superhero part wouldn’t go to the star. Instead, Chris Hemsworth was cast as the Steel God of Thunder.
Ritchson was so frustrated by the rejection that he sought support from an acting coach and took lessons. Nowadays, the star no longer has to complain about missing roles. After the premiere of Reacher season 1, he was in demand, as he describes to Men’s Health. At that time he received around 50 offers of roles in one fell swoop.
When is Reacher season 3 coming to Amazon Prime?
Filming for the new episodes of the action hit is already underway. The 3rd season Reacher could therefore appear by the end of 2024. A start at the beginning of 2025 is also possible.
