With the REACHER series, Amazon Prime was able to breathe new life into the action hero. This is also due to the leading actor Alan Ritchson, who seems to be born for this role. In season 3 there are probably the most violent fight scenes so far. This was also noticeable by the actor, who expected too much.
Attention spoiler: In the following article there is light spoilers a fight in the REACHER Season 3.
What kind of combat scene is that? In season 3 there is an opponent for the first time that is even greater than REACHER himself. With Paulie, played by Olivier Richter, Reacher has to put back on an adversary that he cannot easily defeat.
The final struggle of the two is not only quite brutal, the physique of the two actors is highlighted. This is also due to the fact that Ritchson shot some scenes himself because he really wanted. With one, however, he regretted it again.

You will die if you do that
What happened in this fight scene? In a YouTube video from Stream Wars, parts of the cast tell which scene her loved one was in season 3. Alan Ritchson tells of the last fight against Paulie. The otherwise strong and steadfast reacher is shaken quite hard.
In one scene, Paulie throws him through a table. The camera films from above and you can see the face of Ritchson. The actor wanted to have shot this scene as well, although he was told that it was too dangerous. They prefer to use a stunt double and turn from below.
Ritchson insisted on it, even though he was told: you will die if you do that. Nevertheless, he turned the scene and quickly noticed the danger. Ritchson said that he was briefly black in front of him, and he thought he had broken his back.
I remember that the lights went out briefly when I opened on the floor. I thought: “Am I dead?” When I woke up. And I was torn from the picture. I just thought: […]I think you will be right and get upset that I broke the backbone.

Fortunately, that was just a feeling and Alan Ritchson did not break the backbone. He still tells that it was the worst 5 minutes of his life for him and that he still asked for it himself because he absolutely wanted to turn this scene.
Ironically, his children are said to have been on the set that day and he wanted to hide his injury from them. In addition to this action scene, he mentions the quieter scenes with the actress Sonja Cassidy. These scenes are not only magical moments for the show, but also for him.
