After a first version with very mixed success, the new generation of Ray-Ban connected glasses seems to be catching on in Europe.
While Meta is still working to integrate new features into its latest connected glasses, the company announces that this second generation of Ray-Ban Meta is a real success. The latter represent nearly 60% of Ray-Ban brand glasses sold in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. A surprising success as the first model launched in 2023 did not seem to be very successful and these connected glasses are sold almost twice as expensive as classic Ray-Ban glasses.
How can we explain such success for the Ray-Ban Meta?
In 2023, Meta surprised many people by unveiling an exclusive partnership with eyewear manufacturer Ray-Ban. This union allowed the company to launch its first connected glasses for the general public in 2023: the Ray-Ban Meta. The first version, however, did not meet with the expected success since it suffered from several major problems such as autonomy, lack of respect for private life or the fact of only being able to record a single minute of video.
Meta seems to have reworked his copy well. The second generation Ray-Ban Meta benefits from better performance, particularly in terms of video recording which now allows up to three minutes of content to be captured. An ideal tool for creators and videographers who can now produce longer videos for their audience without requiring a camera or a smartphone. Meta has also added several functions such as automatic reminders, QR code scanning and voice messages for WhatsApp.
The Ray-Ban Meta connected glasses obviously don’t intend to stop there. The company responsible for Facebook and Instagram has already announced that several new features based on artificial intelligence as well as an integration of Spotify within connected glasses should arrive soon. Until then, Meta can now take a breather.
