RATP STRIKE. Disruptions are expected on several metro and tram lines this Friday, July 26, 2024 on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Here is the list of closed stations, and those open at night.
[Mis à jour le 24 juillet 2024 à 9h18] The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games will take place this Friday, July 26, 2024 between 7:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the Seine between the Pont d’Austerlitz and the Pont d’Iéna. It will cause many disruptions to the Parisian public transport network. Many metro, RER or RATP tram stations will be closed in Paris, for the duration of the day on Friday, July 26, 2024 or for just a few hours, to reopen for some all night, in order to welcome the departure of spectators around 11 p.m.! Fortunately, and as you will see, the major Parisian train stations remain open.
Among all these closed stations, two metro lines will be heavily impacted, preventing you from properly visiting the capital’s tourist attractions during the day. Which metro, RER or tram stations will close on the day of the Olympic Games ceremony on July 26, 2024?
If in the morning, a dozen metro stations close their doors, things will get worse between 6pm and 10pm with, among other things, the closure of all the lines that pass through the Seine. On the other hand, the other lines will be reinforced for the arrival and departure of spectators of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games.
- Line 1 : Champs-Elysées-Clémenceau, Concorde, Tuileries, Hôtel de Ville and Saint-Paul (the latter two close from 1 p.m. only). The Franklin D. Roosevelt station could close “in the event of high traffic”, according to the transport plan communicated by the government.
- Line 4 : Quoted.
- Line 5 : Quai de la Rapée, Gare d’Austerlitz (from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.), Saint-Marcel (from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.), Compo-Formio (from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.), Place d’Italie (from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.)
- Line 6 : no traffic between Charles de Gaulle-Étoile and La Motte-Picquet-Grenelle, and the entire line closed from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- Line 7 : no traffic between Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre and Jussieu, Place d’Italie (between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.)
- Line 8 : Concorde, Invalides (from 1 p.m.), La Tour-Maubourg (from 11 p.m.), École Militaire (from 11 p.m.)
- Line 9 : Traffic interrupted between Miromesnil and Porte de Saint-Cloud
- Line 10 : Michel-Ange-Molitor, Michel-Ange-Auteuil, Javel-André Citroen (between 6 p.m. and 11:15 p.m.)
- Line 11 : Châtelet all day and traffic interrupted between Arts et Métiers and Châtelet from 1 p.m.
- Line 12 : Concorde, National Assembly (from 1 p.m.), Rue du Bac and Solférino (from 11:15 p.m.)
- Line 13 : Champs-Elysées-Clémenceau, Invalides (from 1 p.m.), Varenne and Saint-François-Xavier (from 11:15 p.m.)
- RER B : Saint-Michel – Notre-Dame (from 6 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.)
- RER C : Champ de Mars – Eiffel Tower, Pont de l’Alma, Musée d’Orsay, Invalides (from 1 p.m.), Javel (between 6 p.m. and 11:15 p.m.), Saint Michel – Notre Dame (between 6 p.m. and 11:15 p.m.), Boulainvilliers (between 6 p.m. and 11:15 p.m.), Avenue du Président Kennedy (between 6 p.m. and 11:15 p.m.)
- Tram 2 : Issy Gate, Versailles Gate
- Tram 3a : Porte de Versailles, Baron Le Roy (between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. only), traffic interrupted between Porte d’Ivry and Porte de Vincennes (between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.).
- Tram 3b : traffic interrupted between Rosa Parks and Porte de la Villette from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Which metro stations are open all night from July 26 to 27, 2024 during the Olympics?
On the occasion of the release of the Olympic ceremony, the three automatic metro lines which are the 1, 4 And 14 will be open all night. However, not all stations on these lines remain open! As you can see, on line 1, night trains do not actually stop at the stations Esplanade de la Défense, Les Sablons, Argentine, Champs-Elysées – Clémenceau, Concorde, Tuileries, Louvre-Rivoli, Hôtel de Ville, Saint-Paul, Reuilly-Diderot, Porte de Vincennes, Saint-Mandé, Bérault. The RATP specifies that the Franklin D. Roosevelt station could be closed “in the event of high traffic”. On line 4, the stations Simplon, Marcadet-Poissonniers, Château Rouge, Château d’Eau, Réaumur-Sébastopol, Etienne Marcel, Les Halles, Cité, Odéon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Saint-Sulpice, Saint-Placide, Vavin, Raspail, Mouton-Duvernet, Alésia and Barbara do not have stops. Finally, on line 14, traffic ends at Olympiades and not at Orly Airport, during the night. All the stations located between Olympiades and the airport do not have stops either: Maison Blanche, Hôpital Bicêtre, Villejuif – Gustave Roussy, L’Haÿ-les-Roses, Chevilly-Larue and Thiais-Orly.
