STRIKE RATP. This Tuesday, March 7, metro and RER traffic will be extremely disrupted with lines only open during peak hours. As for buses and trams, also plan for disruptions. Here is the traffic forecast.
[Mis à jour le 6 mars 2023 à 12h38] This Tuesday, March 7, the management of the RATP announces an extremely disrupted metro network due to a 6th strike against the pension reform. Indeed, the majority unions of the RATP (CGT, FO, CFE-CGC, CFTC, UNSA) are mobilizing massively to defend the special pension scheme for its agents. In detail, only lines 1 and 14, automatic, and lines 4 and 6 run on the entire line all day. Lines 2, 5, 7, 7bis, 9 and 10, however, run only during peak hours. Lines 3, 11, 12 and 13 only partially open during peak hours as well. Lines 3bis and 8 run only during morning rush hours.
The surface network will be moderately disrupted (buses, trams). Nevertheless, concerning the trams, the RATP foresees on the whole of the network on average, 3 out of 4 trains in circulation. Finally, for those who were planning to take the Orlyval line on March 7 to reach Orly airport, be aware that traffic will be interrupted on the entire line on this day of mobilization against the pension reform.
“The RATP invites all travelers who have the possibility to favor teleworking or to postpone their trips on the network that day and apologizes for the planned transport conditions”, specifies the company in a press release published on Sunday, which also indicates that “traffic information for the day of Wednesday March 8 will be communicated Monday March 6 at the end of the day”. The company’s detailed forecast for the day of Tuesday, March 7 is available below:

The RATP inter-union “calls for a renewable strike from March 7, 2023” because “the government remains blocked on its brutal, unfair and unjustified reform”, she laments in a press release. If he “does not hear the determination of the workers (…), he will have to assume the blocking of the economy of our country”, she warns again.
This mobilization inevitably reminds us of the strike which paralyzed French rail for two months in 2019, during the first mobilization against the pension reform which had been aborted due to the Covid-19 health crisis. The special pension scheme for some 40,000 RATP employees is threatened, which represents 93% of the workforce.
