STRIKE RATP. While a large-scale movement had a strong impact on metro, bus and RER traffic last Thursday in Paris, the threat of an indefinite strike looms this week, brandished by the UNSA-RATP union.
[Mis à jour le 11 novembre 2022 à 11h20] While Thursday, November 10 was a black day for transport users in Paris due to a strike at the RATP bringing the entire metro network to a virtual standstill, the UNSA-RATP union, which demanded a salary increase “at least 3%”, has already announced that this strike could be unlimited if the management does not meet their expectations. Indeed, on BFM Paris last Thursday, the general secretary of the union Arole Lamasse affirmed that if the management of the RATP is “not up to [leurs] requests, the movement will be in a much longer duration”.
A statement entitled: “November 10: big mobilization. And tomorrow, we continue unlimited?” was published on Saturday November 12, 2022 by the UNSA-RATP union which announces that they “remain vigilant and attentive to the first signs of political action [du] future CEO, Jean Castex”. “Without any sign of the new CEO, our movement must be part of new and renewable movements”, they added.
Last Thursday, metro traffic was very disrupted in Paris, with 5 lines closed all day (2, 8, 10, 11 and 12) and the others (3, 3bis, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7bis, 9 and 13) only open from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with about thirty stations closed. The traffic of RER A and RER B was one train out of two during peak hours in the afternoon (4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) and one train out of three during off-peak hours. Two-thirds of the buses were in circulation on Thursday, with around twenty lines at a standstill, with the exception of the Noctilien which was running normally.
