Rasmus Vehmaa and Siiri Siirtola to victories in their heats

The Junior World Championships in Athletics are underway in Peru.

Siiri Siirtola19, won her women’s 100m hurdles heat at the U20 World Championships in Lima, Peru. Heat won the heat with a time of 13.43.

Rasmus Vehmaa advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s 110 meter hurdles with a heat win, with a time of 13.60. This summer, Vehmaa, 19, has run a wild under-20 Finnish record of 13.13.

Vehmaa’s first set got started with a second attempt. Vehmaa’s start was not the best possible, but he soon got to the top, dominated the race and slacked off a bit at the end.

The women’s shot put final will be contested on Sunday.
