Rasmus Dahlin’s new monster success in the NHL – broke the record with a whopping 33(!) games left to play

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Rasmus Dahlin continues to completely dominate the NHL.
He is pouring in points in the league’s hottest team – and has now hit a personal milestone.
That despite the fact that he has 33 games left in the season.

It wasn’t exactly with low expectations that Rasmus Dahlin stepped into the NHL a few seasons ago. He became the first Swedish draft pick since Mats Sundin, and he immediately stepped up and gained a lot of trust from the Buffalo Sabres, who, however, have struggled.

New success

Since Dahlin’s arrival, the Sabers haven’t had much to do with playoff talk, but this season looks different. Currently, the Sabers are the NHL’s hottest team, with an exciting squad, and young stars ready to conquer the NHL. And Rasmus Dahlin is a given key factor to the great success.

Even though Dahlin has been really good in recent seasons, it can hardly be compared to how he is playing this season. He is one of the players with the most ice time in the entire league, and there is only one player ahead of him in the defensemen’s points, and that is his compatriot Erik Karlsson. Last night, the team won its fifth straight victory, in a meritorious away win against Winnipeg, and Rasmus Dahlin was, as usual, behind a lot of forwards.

Beats the record

He played nearly 25 minutes in the game, which the Sabers won 3-2. Dahlin had a first assist on the team’s 1-0 goal, and in the third period he also had a second assist on the power play when Swede Victor Olofsson scored 3-0 for Buffalo. Dahlin’s two new points mean that in 47 games played, he has accounted for 55 points, distributed among 14 goals and 41 assists.

And that says a lot about what an incredible season he is having. Dahlin has already tied his personal NHL scoring record. Last year he accounted for 53 points in 80 games played, and already – despite having 33 games to play before the playoffs possibly start for the Sabres, he has reached the same level. Dahlin is a given favorite to be nominated for the Norris Trophy, and learn there to fight with Erik Karlsson to win. So incredibly powerful!
