Rasmus Dahlin extends with the Buffalo Sabres.
The Swede gets an eight-year contract – which is worth almost one billion (!) kroner.
Backen thus becomes the second highest paid Swede in the NHL.
Last season was Rasmus Dahlins real breakthroughs. The defender scored 73 points in 78 games, this with an A on his chest (to symbolize that he is vice-captain). Now he is being rewarded by the Buffalo Sabres.
Dahlin’s declaration of love
Dahlin has previously expressed his appreciation for the club.
– I love the city. I love the team. I love everything, the Swede said when asked about his contract status last month.
He was praised in turn by the club’s General manager Kevin Adams.
– I know I’m a jerk, but I see him as one of the best players in the world at what he does. He has made great strides. I couldn’t be prouder of him but I also know how much work he puts in. I still think he will get better. You hear me say that often. “He’s a player I think will continue to improve,” Adams said last season.

Drafted first overall by Buffalo in 2018, the running back has been with the club ever since. And it looks like it will be a while longer. Dahlin has received an eight (!) year contract extension from the Sabres. There will also be a pay rise.
Rasmus’ million salary
Dahlin will now earn 11 million dollars a year, which translates to 120 million kroner a year. That total over eight years results in 88 million dollars, or 960 million kroner, i.e. almost a billion.

The 23-year-old thus becomes the second highest paid NHL Swede, after Erik Karlsson who as of this season plays in the Pittsburgh Penguins. Karlsson’s contract is worth a whopping $92 million.
Dahlin also becomes seventh highest paid in the entire NHL.
The Buffalo Sabers play their first NHL game of the season on Friday night against the New York Rangers at home.
