Rasmus Dahlin is on the hunt.
Last night he accounted for a dream goal – and another point – as Buffalo defeated the reigning champions.
Now Dahlin is nearing the top of the scoring league for backs.
Rasmus Dahlin hasn’t exactly been bad since being drafted first overall by the Buffalo Sabres, but everyone has agreed there is more to come. At the same time, the Swede has played in one of the league’s worst teams, and he still hasn’t played a playoff game in the NHL. But this season it looks different.
New smash hit
The Buffalo Sabers are finally starting to turn in their hugely talented team, and this winter they are playing perhaps the most fun hockey in the entire league. They are at the top when it comes to goals scored, and they are also fighting for a place in the spring playoffs. And much is thanks to Rasmus Dahlin. The Swede has completely exploded this season, and tonight he once again stepped forward with a big game.
Dahlin was noted for a somewhat lackluster 29 minutes of ice time in the tough road game against the reigning Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche, and he also played a central role in the team’s goal production. Dahlin carefully followed up and found a free area when the score was 2-0 to the Sabres, and his shot could not have sat better on the crossbar, via the post. Before that, Dahlin also had a play until Buffalo’s 2-0 goal.

Chasing Erik Karlsson
Dahlin’s two points in the game were enough for a 4-2 win for Buffalo, which thus took important points in the fight for the playoffs. And for Rasmus Dahlin, it now means that he has scored an impressive 35 points in 29 games played, which means that he is only three points behind the leader of the defenders’ scoring, Erik Karlsson. Both Swedes are also in the top 13 in the scoring league among all players in the NHL.
The season is only about a third over, but experts are already talking that it is Erik Karlsson and Rasmus Dahlin who will settle for the Norris Trophy, the prize for the NHL’s best defender, when the season is over. So incredibly powerful that we have two super Swedes who completely dominate from the back position in the world’s best league!
