What a dream start to the NHL season!
Rasmus Andersson is really flying forward in North America.
Last night, he put on an incomparable solo show that paved the way for the Calgary Flames’ third straight victory.
Already in 2014 left Rasmus Andersson Swedish hockey and Malmö Redhawks to try their luck in North America. Through two seasons in the OHL and two seasons in the AHL, he managed to establish himself in the NHL in 2018.
Andersson’s success
The 27-year-old defenseman is now in his ninth season in the NHL with the Calgary Flames and this could be the best so far in his career. Andersson has really had a dream start to the new season with five points in the first three games and helped his Flames to three straight victories.

Last night, the Swede was the main contributor to turning around and winning against last year’s finalist Edmonton Oilers with 4-1 on the road. Halfway into the match, Rasmus Andersson offered the match’s great delicacy when he delivered an exquisite solo raid and equalized to 1-1, see the goal below.

The Calgary defender won the puck for himself in his own zone and then accelerated, on the way to the goal he spun past the opponents with playful ease. And one of the fired-up Oilers players was himself Connor McDavid.

Then he sent the puck into the back of the net and the entire NHL is talking about this solo goal, watch it below tonight. Andersson was also responsible for two assists in the successful match.

“Out for a Sunday ride and the Oilers just let him ride around,” writes another.
“So embarrassing for Edmonton, my God. The guy went through them like a junior team,” writes a third.
