Pak Myong-ho, North Korea’s vice foreign minister, and his Chinese counterpart Sun Weidong met over the weekend in Beijing, according to North Korean media outlets.

The two diplomats discussed strengthening ties ahead of the 75th anniversary of Sino-North Korean diplomatic ties in 2024. Strategic issues were also put on the table, with no details added by the North’s state media. -Korean.

This visit is a rare trip by a senior North Korean official to China since the regime closed its border in 2020 to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Relations between the two countries are gradually returning to normal.
