After Disney has already brought numerous animated classics such as The Jungle Book, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid to the cinemas as live-action films, Vaiana, a live-action adaptation from the newer Disney generation, is coming soon. This time, Dwayne Johnson can not only be heard as Maui, but can also be seen. However, Disney fans will have to say goodbye to another dream.
Because Zachary Levi would not be in his popular role as Flynn Rider in a live-action adaptation of Tangled – and he has a specific reason for that. Instead, he sees none other than arguably the most sought-after actor of his generation as the perfect replacement for the role.
Rapunzel hero wants Dune 2 star Timothée Chalamet as Flynn Rider
As Levi explained in an interview with ET, Dune 2 and Wonka star Timothée Chalamet is his preferred candidate for the role of the mischievous thief and dream prince Flynn Rider:
I mean, he’s getting every other job right now, but I’d probably say Timothée Chalamet.

The 43-year-old, however, attributes the fact that Levi does not see himself as a real-life version of Flynn on screen to his age:
Unfortunately, I feel a bit too old for that ‒ and that I don’t know all the young actors who could play him.
Nevertheless, Levi could imagine returning together with his co-star and Rapunzel original voice Mandy Moore in a live-action adaptation – but in different roles:
I think it would be funny if Mandy [Moore] and me as Rapunzel’s parents would return. That would be a fun little cameo for both of us.Is there going to be a live-action adaptation of Tangled?
A live-action adaptation of Tangled has not yet been officially announced by Disney, but fans have been wanting the live-action adaptation for a long time. This also goes to Zachary Levi, who has apparently always wanted a second part of the animated hit: “Now that there are talks of a live-action adaptation, I think it’s great and I’m excited to see how it all comes together.”
Until then, you can watch the animated film again, in which Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore can still be heard in the English original. Tangled is currently available as a streaming subscription on Disney+.
