Rapper Pras Michél sentenced for money laundering
After a three-week trial, it is now clear that the former Fugees member, rapper Prakazrel “Pras” Michél, engaged in, among other things, money laundering and illegal lobbying, writes SVT who cites The Washington Post.
He is sentenced for all the crimes he was accused of and now risks up to 20 years in prison. According to the verdict, the crimes took place in conjunction with a Malaysian businessman who is on the run. Among other things, Michél is said to have received 20 million dollars to help the businessman take a picture together with former US President Barack Obama.
The artist has also been accused of having embezzled billions of dollars from the Malaysian state that allegedly ended up in Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012 and in the movie “The wolf of Wall Street”.
